Stream Ecology Group

University of Oulu, Department of Biology

Our research focuses on community ecology and macroecology of freshwater
organisms, with a bias towards running water ecosystems.
Much of our work is rather applied by nature, including restoration ecology,
invasion biology, conservation biology and land-use impacts on
stream communities and ecosystems.

We work in close collaboration with other community ecologists at our department,
but our group extends beyond the Department of Biology,
with members in other university departments, Finnish Environment Institute and
Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute.
Our work is not specified on a particular taxonomic group but we use any freshwater,
or riparian, group that suites best any specific study question.
