As a joint effort of Thule Doctoral Program and Finnish Doctoral Programme in Stochastics and Statistics, we organize a workshop on Animal Models with Applications in Ecology at the University of Oulu. The workshop will be held November 4-6th, 2014 at Linnanmaa campus (see http://kartta.ouka.fi/IMS/en/Map?layers=Opaskartta&cp=7218053%2C474871&z=1&title=Oulun%20yliopisto&language=fin). The campus area is easily achievable by public transport (see http://www.oulunjoukkoliikenne.fi/english for bus routes and timetables). Bus no. 9 goes from Oulunsalo airport to city centre and buses no. 2, 3 and 8b from the centre to the university. If you arrive by train or bus at Oulu, railway and bus stations are located at the city centre. The first session on Tuesday 4th November starts at 10.00 am at the lecture hall IT138 (see the map below). The workshop will be finished by 14.00 pm on Thursday 6th November. If you have any questions about practical issues, the organizers are happy to help.
In addition to booking your travel tickets and accommodation, please consider the following subjects:
(1) Read the supplementary course material beforehand to get the best out of the workshop (https://wiki.oulu.fi/display/AMWAIE/Course+material)
(2) We have reserved time for four student presentations (20 min + 5 min for discussion). Let us know if you would like to give a presentation of your own work or analytical problems
(3) Let us know which Group discussion groups you intend to participate (e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org by 28th October). The group discussions are led by the lecturers and based on the supplementary reading material. Each student can take part in two groups, see https://wiki.oulu.fi/display/AMWAIE/Course+material
(4) If you already have questions to the lecturers in mind, write them down to the comment field on the wiki Course material page beforehand so that the lecturers would have some time to prepare themselves or modify they lectures accordingly
You are warmly welcome in Oulu!
